Impact of IT on Society

ICT has changed the way we live in the Western world. We depend it for so much.

I am going to explain how ICT is used in :-

  • education
  • shopping
  • society/community
  • the economy

Shopping:The impact that ICT has had on banking and shopping is that it has made shopping online possible and easy to use by anyone with a computer. Now you are able to shop online on many different sites and you can even have delivery for a small price. You don't even have to leave home to go shopping these days as it all can be done safely online.

ICT has had a huge impact on the world today it has enabled people to shop online. We are now able to do food shopping online meaning that if you enter a shopping store site you can go around the virtual store and pick out what objects you would like and 'add them to you basket' you will then have to enter details. For a small extra cost you are also able to get you shopping delivered straight to you door.

There are many benefits to shopping now that we have to use of ICT it allows people who have a busy lifestyle to do there shopping at any time of day meaning that they can just fit it in around work and looking after children. This is also true of online banking the use of ICT means that accounts can be sorted, swapped and visited at any time both day and night so it is much more convenient for people. People who are disabled and now able to leave the house also find the use of ICT a great help as it means that they can find exactly what they want without having to go through a lot of trouble to get out of the house. ICT now allows you to view exactly what it is you will be purchasing before you say you will buy it therefore working much better for people.

Education

ICT can play varied roles in developing an effective learning environment. It acts as a teacher and explains core content concepts and addresses misconceptions. It acts as a stimulant and fosters analytical thinking and interdisciplinary studies.

The impact of education for All is to ensure that all people, young and old, can access quality basic education and acquire the literacy skills they need to learn throughout life, and the life skills they need to apply their knowledge in daily life and society. Schools’ impact on former students can be monitored and assessed by gathering feedback information from the following persons:

USING THE COMPUTER TO DO ASSIGNMENTS.

I use computers in class instead of books and also use google to download information on the internet. I now word process all my assignments.I can change things easily and i can use the spell-check.
I do not have to write any notes as i download the notes on moodle.in the classroom we have now interactive white boards instead of black boards and chalk.
The teacher marks the register on computer instead of a register.

Economy

This paper analyzes how the production behavior of the IT industry itself

and other allied industries can be changed based on the input substitution and
income effects resulting from changes made in IT industries being classified by a
vio model.

By developing IT industries in Korea, income effect increases a
production activity of a majority of other industries rather than an industrial
production structure favorable for IT induced by substitution effect for production
elements.

That is, the income effect, such that an IT commodity and service is in
an increasing demand while prices of information communication commodity
have come down, is to be a main factor generating affirmative results for a
majority of industries.

On the other hand, it is observed that the substitution
effect itself, a modification to an industrial production structure favorable for IT,
cannot result in the affirmative effects extended to other industries.

Society

ICT or Information and Communication Technology has had a great impact on society since its earlier days. We now have TV sets and remote controls, personal and laptop computers and mobile phones among others. More and more technologies are coming up everyday, it’s like the world has gone on super drive trying to make life easier and more comfortable by creating and inventing new, better gadgets.

IT has made modern life much easier than what it used to, however for all the goods there are many bads. Society today has become too reliant on IT for all their needs, this in turn causes many problems. IT is now incorporated into nearly everything in today’s society, schools, hospitals, businesses and even security! But imagine if one day all IT disappeared

ICT can affect society either in a positive way or a negative way. ICT affects the society positively by keeping people in contact with friends and family anywhere around the world, through the use of emails and instant messaging. ICT can also affect the society negatively by causing health problems such as eye problems to people who use computer frequently and for long hours.

Community

ICT is used in communities to enable internet access, offer search engine to ease location of books in libraries, and in organizing train journeys online. ICT systems have been installed in various places in the society such as in cinemas, transport systems, libraries, high schools, cyber cafes and museums. ICT has also given communities a way of earning a living as may people can now work online in the comfort of there houses.

ICT is a broad term that includes more than just computers. In fact, it includes any communication device or application such as radio, television, mobile phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems, videoconferencing, distance learning, social networking, cloud computing and more.

If we use it correctly, ICT enables organisations to ‘do better things’ and ‘do things better’.
The benefit of the use of ICT lies less in the technology and more in its ability to create greater access to information and communication in underserved populations. It can help you to be more efficient and publicise your organisation better; and it can assist you in being more accessible and transparent.

Such technology can also help to build strong and sustainable communities – through building inclusion and providing services for the underserved.
